Lauching
Where: The presentation will be streamed live, and you can join here.
When: This Thursday, November 21st at 7:30 PM (Spain), we will officially launch the project portal hosted by the Biblioteca Virtual Miguel de Cervantes. The portal showcases the experiences and writings of a group of American women who visited Spain during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Starting Thursday, the portal will also be accessible directly from our website.
Description: Between 1880 and 1936, a series of prestigious American women writers visited Spain. Little is remembered of their journeys because little has been written about them. AWESOME, which stands for “American Women Exploring Spain – Open Multimedia Encounters (1880-1936)”, recovers and delves into the history of these travelers. Funded by the 2023 call for Emerging Projects grant from the Generalitat Valenciana (CIGE 2022/016), this project commemorates the travels through Spain of authors such as Fanny Bullock, Louise Chandler Moulton, Alice Gulick, Susan Hale, Inez Haynes Irwin, Maud Howe, Katharine Lee Bates, Gertrude Stein, Caroline Earle White, and Edith Wharton.
